The Custom Process
The making of an heirloom begins with the uncovering. Unearthen offers custom work for individuals interested in participating in the creative process.
Every Unearthen custom project follows a four-phase structure. Whether we work together to design a bespoke engagement ring or sculptural hardware for a design project, our process is considered and collaborative.
Consultation
We begin with a centering conversation by phone or in-person at our LA studio, in which we explore and define:
- The piece or project scope
- Materials, stones, or finishes
- References and design direction
- Timeline considerations
- Establish budget
The clarity we uncover in Phase 01 will inform everything that follows.
Design
After a $500 deposit, we enter the design phase. Within approximately two weeks, you will receive:
- Visual directions
- Material recommendations
- A proposed design approach
This process includes two rounds of refinement. Once the final direction is approved, you will receive a detailed cost estimate.
Fabrication
Next, we enter the production phase. Lead time is typically 4-8 weeks, depending on project scope and sourcing requirements. Progress images are available upon request.
Delivery
Once complete, your finished piece will be available for pick-up at the Unearthen studio in Los Angeles or via secure shipment.
Investment
Custom projects begin at $2,500, with pricing determined by selected materials, complexity, and scope.
